Valerie LeBlanc—Report of the MPB involvement during the Journée du poème à porter at the Tire Shack Brewing Company, 190 John Street in Moncton on Thursday, April 24.
This event was paired with the launch of books by Basic Bruegel Editions and served as the soft opening of the Frye Festival 2025. The MediaPackBoard (MPB) crew sends a special thanks to Jonathan Lamy for his support in bringing the MPB out for an event, after 10 years in the mothballs.
This time, Daniel (H. Dugas) carried the performance-assist apparatus, and he screened the 2025 selection of poetry showcased by la Journée du poème à porter. This special opportunity to revive the MPB performance/assist/artist-screening apparatus represents a prime example of what the MPB was created to do—showcase artworks directly to its audiences. From 2005 to 2014, the MPB saw active use at street level in many different performative roles.
To open the first event, Daniel walked around giving out the postcards of poetry printed for the occasion. He read the poems from the cards, including his own. This presented chances for people to listen to Daniel’s reading, to read the poems directly from the cards, and/or from the MPB screen. This Journée du poème à porter 2025 event also featured live readings from invited poets Rose Deprés and Paul Bossé.
I want to thank Daniel for wearing the device for these events at the Tire Shack Co.
