Launch of the e[BB]e (Basic Bruegel Editions) Chapbook series
Many thanks to the Frye Festival, Noel Bourque, La Poésie Partout and Jonathan Lamy. We would like to thank the New Brunswick Arts Board for its support. The Chapbook series would not have been possible without their help.
I produced Vignettes and War and Place with the aid of a Creation Grant, and worked with Daniel to produce his book Vivres (in French) and Sarah Tremlett’s Horse-Woman—a British writer and artist—with the support of a Documentation Grant.
Éditions Basic Bruegel Editions, e[BB]e is an independent press established in 1997 by Daniel H. Dugas and myself. Over the years, we have published and co-published more than 20 books on artistic practices, poetry, and essays in print and PDF formats. As artists and writers, we have always looked for ways to get projects out into the world. We are interested in expanding the reach of artworks and writing to include new audiences in the conversations.
After publishing Vignettes and War and Place, Daniel and I worked to expand the Chapbook Collection to include his Vivres and Sarah Tremlett’s Horse-Woman. During the Tire Shack Brewing Co. presentations, I read texts selected from both Vignettes and War and Place. Daniel read from Vivres, and we played Sarah Tremlett’s pre-recorded Introduction and readings from Horse-Woman using the MediaPackBoard. The MPB was used in the first part of the event to show the postcards/poems from La Journée du poème à porter.
Our motivations for publishing this series are in line with earlier initiatives such as the TRUNK Gallery (1996–2001) and the MediaPackBoard [MPB] (2005–2014). We wanted to create opportunities for storytelling and contribute to the discourse on art and society.
Each title from our Artists’ imprints has been printed in a limited edition of 100 paper copies.

PS The Tire Shack Brewing Co. is a beautiful, well-equipped space. It is bright and well-lit by natural light during the day. It is spacious, and the Staff enhances the overall welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to everyone for coming out to these two events!
Lancement de la série Chapbooks des Éditions Bruegel
Un grand merci au Festival Frye, à Noel Bourque, à La Poésie Partout et à Jonathan Lamy. Nous tenons également à remercier le Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick pour son soutien. La série de Chapbooks n’aurait pas été possible sans leur aide.
J’ai réalisé Vignettes et War and Place grâce à une bourse de création, et j’ai collaboré avec Daniel pour produire son livre Vivres (en français), ainsi que Horse-Woman de Sarah Tremlett — une écrivaine et artiste britannique — avec le soutien d’une bourse de documentation.
Les Éditions Basic Bruegel Editions, e[BB]e, sont une maison d’édition indépendante fondée en 1997 par Daniel H. Dugas et moi-même. Au fil des ans, nous avons publié et co-publié plus de 20 livres portant sur les pratiques artistiques, la poésie et les essais, en formats imprimés et PDF. En tant qu’artistes et écrivains, nous cherchons sans cesse à élargir la portée des œuvres pour inviter de nouveaux publics à prendre part aux dialogues qu’elles suscitent.
Après la publication de Vignettes et War and Place, Daniel et moi avons poursuivi le développement de la collection Chapbooks pour y inclure Vivres de Daniel et Horse-Woman de Sarah Tremlett.
Lors des présentations à la Tire Shack Brewing Co., j’ai lu des extraits de Vignettes et War and Place. Daniel a lu des passages de Vivres, et nous avons diffusé l’introduction et la lecture préenregistrée de Horse-Woman par Sarah Tremlett à l’aide du MediaPackBoard. Le MPB a également été utilisé dans l’événement prélancement pour montrer les cartes postales/poèmes de La Journée du poème à porter.
Nos motivations pour publier cette série de livres s’inscrivent dans la continuité d’initiatives antérieures, telles que la TRUNK Gallery (1996–2001) et le MediaPackBoard [MPB] (2005–2014). Nous voulions créer de nouveaux contextes pour contribuer au discours sur l’art et la société.
Chaque titre de nos éditions d’artistes a été imprimé en tirage limité à 100 exemplaires.

P.S. La Tire Shack Brewing Co. est un lieu magnifique. Il est lumineux et baigné de lumière naturelle durant la journée. L’espace est vaste, et l’équipe contribue grandement à créer une atmosphère chaleureuse. Merci à toutes et à tous d’être venus à ce lancement !
